Smile makeovers for men

It’s been more than 25 years since Botox hit the scene to help combat wrinkles allowing men to enjoy smile makeovers.
Just like women who dream about looking like Hollywood stars, husbands, single dads and divorcee’s have now jumped on the bandwagon by signing up for treatment in growing numbers.

Simon Cowell and Rylan Clark have both admitted to freezing time with the help of Botox and it seems the Botox trend is catching with smile makeovers for men becoming more popular.

A recent article in The Financial Times claims that from 2011 to 2013, there was a huge increase in men having Botox by over 200 per cent. Patrick Bowler, medical director of Courthouse Clinics in the UK said: “Now 20% of my clients are male and that divorce is a leading contributor with more men on the market, they want to improve their chances and our data shows treatments such as Botox increase men’s confidence, mood and self-esteem.”

Another surprising reason behind the surge of “bro-tox” or “bloke-tox” is due to work pressure. “In the world of finance, men’s looks are important not only to get a job but to keep a job,” says Susan Mayou, consultant dermatologist at the Cadogan Clinic in London. “Men want to be seen as on top of their game and not appear angry or tense with a furrowed brow. With correctly injected Botox and fillers, they look, feel and perform at work better.”

Despite its growing popularity, there are questions about why the treatment can look much more noticeable on a man than on a woman as many experts claim that men should never look perfect with the best use of Botox on male faces being to soften the wrinkles between the brows, making them look less sad and mean.

If you look at men like David Beckham or Colin Farrell, if their brows were high, arched and skinny they would lose their ruggedness. Men should never look perfect; they need some lines and furrows.

Others, like Simon Cowell, are open about their use of Botox with the multi-millionaire music guru and new dad opened up about the extraordinary lengths he goes to in order to stay youthful.

He also revealed that he works out three or four times a week, has Botox, take tons of vitamins and vitamin infusions.
