At Corner House Dental we do all we can to provide the best care for our patients and we believe we have the ultimate answer for missing teeth. Dental implants in Norwich are a permanent solution for lost teeth, yet they look and feel completely natural. Not only will dental implants improve your appearance and give you a confidence boost, but they also have the same functionality as your natural teeth and are maintained in exactly the same way, making them an easy and worry-free option for you.

We create an implant from titanium metal which is inserted into your jawbone where it fuses with your existing bone, becoming like a new tooth root and creating a strong and permanent support for your replacement tooth or teeth. At Corner House we liaise with skilled technicians in a dental laboratory who will create perfect replacement teeth to match your natural set, returning your smile to its most beautiful. With dental implants in Norwich, you can eat what you like without worry, and they are a much more comfortable option than dentures.

Benefits of dental implants in Norwich

They’re the closest solution to a real tooth. They look and feel like your natural teeth and fuse with the bone which means they eventually become permanent.

Missing teeth can cause problems with speech. Dental implants in Norwich can restore your speech as well as your ability to chew food properly, thus improving your overall health.

Implants are comfortable, whilst other solutions such as dentures can cause some pain and discomfort.

Many find they smile more after having their missing teeth replaced – implants restore self-esteem and give the confidence to smile again.

Implants do not require you to have other teeth reduced as with bridges where neighbouring teeth have to be altered in order to support the new tooth/teeth.

Implants are a fixed solution, so there is no need to remove your teeth overnight or for other reasons such as to clean them.

Dental implants in Norwich are said to have a success rate of over 95%, making them a highly reliable solution to replacing missing teeth. They can be used to replace a single missing tooth, or indeed several or all missing teeth.

 What does the procedure involve?

Firstly, you will need to attend a consultation, where you can discuss your treatment for dental implants in Norwich with one of our specialists here at Cornerhouse. If you have any anxieties or questions, we will be more than happy to address these moving forwards.

The titanium tooth root implant is placed into your bone socket (where your missing tooth is). Your jawbone will heal and the implant will fuse and grow around the titanium implant, a process that can take anywhere from 6 – 12 weeks.

Following this, an abutment (a connecting post) will be attached in order to support your new tooth. Impressions of your natural teeth will be made so that you have an exact bespoke model correct to your bite – your new tooth (a crown) is made from this and placed over your new tooth root (the implant).

Here at Cornerhouse, your dentist will help you select a perfect match for the colour of your crown.

Why replace missing teeth with dental implants?

  1. They protect other teeth – Even one missing tooth can impact the way the mouth works to break down food, placing strain on neighboring teeth, which are forced to pick up the slack. Lost molars are particularly troublesome, as these are the teeth we use to break down most of our food. With even one molar lost, eating can become a challenge.
  2. Rescue your jawbone – Did you know? In the first year after losing just a single tooth, the jawbone shirks by up to 25%. To stop this accelerating on until very little or no jawbone remains at the site of the missing tooth, replace it with an implant as soon as possible.
  3. Preserve a youthful appearance – The knock-on effect of jawbone loss can go on to cause serious changes to your face’s appearance. As the jawbone becomes lost, the cheek area becomes hollow and the chin begins to protrude, through lack of stimulation between the teeth and the jawbone. This can often cause premature wrinkles in these areas as the skin begins to sag.
  4. Learn to love your food again – Missing teeth make breaking down foods an ordeal, and they can also eventually cause gaps in your smile, as a result of teeth drifting out of position. With the issue of unnatural gaps and a lack of teeth to tackle tougher foods, you may find eating isn’t quite the pleasure it used to be. With dental implants your can enjoy eating again as you’re new teeth are fixed in place.
  5. Replace old dentures – As we mentioned in the point above, it’s now possible to replace teeth using implants, but also using dentures or a bridge. This is particularly helpful for those looking to replace multiple missing teeth but who are looking for a more cost-effective option than individual implants.
  6. Lifelong implants – Dental implants are the only way to restore the function and aesthetic of your tooth to 100%. As mentioned above, implants become a permanent part of the body and can therefore be looked after in the same way as natural teeth. Brush twice a day for 2 minutes each time, floss regularly and attend frequent hygiene appointments– you won’t need to worry about removing anything in order to brush as in the case of dentures and the survival rate for implants ranges between 73.4%- 100% – if properly looked after, they will last a lifetime.

Dental Implants Norwich FAQs

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are small screws (usually made from titanium) that are inserted directly into the jawbone to create artificial tooth roots.

The metal root is fused to your jawbone, providing a sturdy foundation to secure replacement teeth.

Dental implants are fitted to replace failing tooth roots, providing a solid foundation for a removable or fixed replacement tooth. For this reason, they are a welcomed alternative to traditional, removable dentures.

Many opt for this treatment to improve the appearance of their smile or restore their ability to chew.

Where is the dental implant placed?

The titanium screw is inserted directly into the jawbone. After the dental implant is fitted, the bone and screw will gradually fuse, providing a foundation to secure replacement teeth or bridges in place.

Dental implants are great for replacing teeth after extraction or loss, providing a long-term solution to problems caused by missing teeth.

We only liaise with highly skilled professionals that are experienced and qualified in creating tailored replacement teeth to match your natural set perfectly.

Are dental implants suitable for everyone?

Most adults who desire dental implants are suitable for this procedure. However, there are some exceptions.

The most important factor determining whether a patient is suitable for dental implants is sufficient and healthy bone and gums.

You may be unsuitable for dental implants if any of the following applies to you:

  • If you have gum disease – this increases the risk of infection around the dental implant.
  • If you smoke – smoking cigarettes, cigars or even e-cigarettes can slow the healing process and cause infection due to dry mouth.
  • If you have diabetes that isn’t monitored and controlled.
  • If you take recreational drugs or drink heavily.
  • If you’ve had radiotherapy treatment around or in your jaw.

If you’re unsure whether dental implants are suitable for you, book a consultation with one of our experienced dentists at 01603 621613.

What can I expect during the dental implant procedure?

The process consists of three stages: an initial consultation, the procedure and installing your replacement teeth.

Initial consultation

Before you start the dental implant procedure, you need to attend a consultation. This is when you can discuss any questions or anxieties with one of our specialists.

During this consultation, your dentist will determine whether dental implants are suitable for you by taking a bone density and volume CBCT scan to measure the density, width, and depth of your jawbone.

The procedure

Our dental implant procedure is performed at our practice by a qualified dentist with over 20 years of experience placing implants.

The process is straightforward and conducted using a local anaesthetic, making the procedure relatively pain-free.

After the anaesthetic has been administered, a titanium screw is placed in the jawbone followed by a healing cap placed on the implant site to protect it.

After the implant is secure, the jawbone needs time to grow onto the implant, fusing them.

Fitting your replacement teeth

It can take between 4-8 months for the jawbone and implant to bond. Once healed, your custom-made teeth are fitted to the top of the implant.

Why choose dental implants?

There are many fantastic benefits to dental implant treatment to help boost your confidence and improve your day-to-day life.

No need for healthy tooth removal

Some dental procedures that deal with missing teeth require the removal of your neighbouring, healthy teeth. The dental implant procedure doesn’t require surrounding tooth extraction.

A fixed and long-lasting option

Unlike dentures that need to be removed whilst sleeping or eating, dental implants offer a permanent and fixed solution. If cared for correctly, implants can last beyond 10 years.

Natural-looking

The replacement teeth fixed onto the titanium screws are designed to match your existing smile. Even the colour shade is matched perfectly to your teeth.

Prevents facial bone loss

Jawbone loss occurs when it's no longer stimulated by teeth roots. A titanium dental implant prevents this, stopping your jaw from shrinking and your face shape from changing.

Restores your bite

Dental implants fill the gaps in your teeth that prevent you from chewing foods properly – so you can continue to enjoy the meals you love.

Is there anything my dentist should know before I get dental implants?

Make sure that your dentist is fully informed about any previous health conditions or allergies. Allergies to antibiotics or health conditions such as poorly controlled diabetes or high blood pressure can effect the outcome of your dental implants.

You should be aware of:

  • Any prescription or over-the-counter pharmaceuticals that may influence treatment.
  • The ability to attend multiple treatment sessions and to attend several dental appointments over a period of months.
  • The willingness to maintain and care for the implant prosthesis once they are in place.
  • Current or chronic stress can affect the ability to heal.
  • Dental anxieties or phobias might also affect treatment.
  • Heavy drinking, smoking or taking recreational drugs may affect the outcome.
  • Nutritional status influences the ability of the bone to heal.

In your initial appointment, you will be assessed for your eligibility for dental implants including a CT Scan of your teeth and jaw. Contact us on 01603621613 to book a consultation.
