Here at Cornerhouse dental, we offer a fast-working and hassle-free solution for straightening teeth. This type of treatment is used to correct misaligned or badly spaced front teeth and is a great option if you have a special occasion approaching for which you would like to look your best. Originating from the United States, Six Month Smiles is becoming increasingly popular with our patients here at Cornerhouse. It is a brackets and clear wires procedure which takes a quarter of the time compared to other orthodontic methods.

How does it work?

These type of braces apply low pressure to ease your teeth into a desired position and are widely considered much more comfortable than long-term braces solutions.

Six Month Smiles treatment uses the traditional techniques of orthodontics and applies them in a more modern way in order to render them faster and more effective.

The treatment is discreet, using tooth-coloured wires so that your brace is inconspicuous to the eyes of others. The wires are generally made from nickel titanium which is one of the fundamental reasons the treatment is so quick – this material is very flexible and moves well with your teeth.

Although this treatment does not directly correct any significant orthodontic problems, rendering your front teeth straighter is still a good start to a healthier mouth. In having less gaps in your teeth, food cannot become lodged and create a breeding ground for bacteria.

Not suitable for:

  • Correcting significant bite issues.
  • Correcting teeth that aren’t your front teeth.
  • Correcting jaw issues.

What does the treatment involve?

Your dentist will take X-rays and photographs of your teeth. Following this, your brace can be fitted. You will need to visit your dentist every 4-5 weeks in order for progress to be closely tracked. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions along the way.

Will I experience any side effects with Six Month Smiles?

You may experience some discomfort though if this is persistent, your dentist may prescribe some narcotic painkillers to deal with this however, over-the-counter painkillers are normally sufficient.
