The Minimally-invasive Alternative to Veneers: Tooth Bonding

The nature of the demand for cosmetic dental treatment (and indeed for facial aesthetics treatment) has changed, with many people opting for less invasive procedures to repair their teeth. One treatment that has attracted a number of patients here at Corner House is cosmetic bonding. Often compered to veneers, cosmetic bonding can be used to repair a whole host of cosmetic issues with a tooth or teeth, ranging from discolouration and shaping to cracks and spacing.

Composite bonding at Corner House – craftsmanship and precision

Here at Corner House Dental, we love the composite bonding process as it allows us to create a really accurate restoration for patients. As the composite resin layers are added very gradually, this means we can be very diligent with how we shape the tooth, making sure it’s a perfect match for your smile. The type of material we use is similar to that which we use for white fillings and delivers a highly authentic result, closely resembling real tooth enamel.

Unlike veneers, tooth bonding doesn’t involve any of your natural tooth enamel being removed and covers only part of a tooth. This does mean tooth bonding is a less durable solution but with proper care, the results can last for up to 10 years.

What are the main benefits of cosmetic bonding?

  • Cost-effective: treatment with cosmetic bonding is less expensive than with veneers.
  • Learn to love smiling again: imperfections and blemishes (especially those on your upper and lower front teeth) can make it difficult to smile around others and take its toll on your confidence when you look in the mirror. Find your love of smiling again by repairing the visible cosmetic issues you dislike about your smile.
  • Speedy and straightforward: tooth bonding can be completed in just a single appointment and takes only 30-60 minutes to complete.
  • Add the finishing touches to orthodontic treatment: the versatility of tooth bonding extends into the realm of orthodontics. It’s commonly used to correct minor spacing issues after orthodontic treatment, providing the final cosmetic finishing touches.

Since re-opening after the lockdown period last year, cosmetic bonding has been very popular, with many patients wishing to give their smile a bit of TLC. We’ve loved seeing patients leave our Norwich dental practice with a renewed desire to smile and we often hear that treatment has made a big difference to their confidence when partaking in video conference calls on Zoom and Skype.
