Missing Teeth? It’s Time for Dental Implant Surgery

Dental Implants in Norwich are a form of specialist dentistry that focuses on replacing missing, decayed, or damaged teeth to restore a patient’s smile. This revolutionary treatment is long-lasting, reliable, and permanent, making it a superior option to dentures. Likewise, one of our esteemed technicians will carefully craft each implant fixture to closely mimic the look and function of natural teeth.

If you’re contemplating dental implant surgery, we recommend scheduling an appointment with a dentist as soon as you lose your teeth. Early treatment can help ensure the best possible results and prevent potential complications from arising. We’re here to support you in restoring your smile, so you can enjoy the benefits of owning a complete set of healthy teeth.

Why Is It a Good Idea to Schedule Dental Implant Surgery Soon After Losing Your Teeth?

1) Prevent Misalignment

Replacing missing teeth can prevent the neighbouring ones from shifting out of place. When a tooth is lost, the surrounding teeth tend to move to fill the empty space. This can result in a crooked smile, a sunken appearance, or bite complications. Misalignment can also cause problems such as TMD (Temporomandibular Disorder) and discomfort or pain when chewing. Getting dental implants soon after losing a tooth can help prevent these problems by providing a stable, supportive structure for the surrounding teeth. This can also reduce the need for additional dental work, such as Orthodontics, to correct misalignment. Therefore, dental implants can help protect the neighbouring teeth from damage and prevent them from moving out of place. Early intervention can help preserve the health and function of your teeth and prevent a range of additional complications.

2) Support Your Jawbone

Dental implants can help prevent Jawbone Atrophy, a condition in which the jawbone begins to shrink or deteriorate after tooth loss. This can lead to a significant loss of bone tissue over time (25% after one year), potentially resulting in a hollow facial appearance. Getting dental implants early can help prevent Jawbone Atrophy by stimulating the bone tissue and preserving its strength and density. Sufficient bone tissue is also essential for successful dental implant surgery, as it provides a strong foundation for the titanium screw that anchors the implant in place. If you do not have enough bone tissue, you may need to undergo a Bone Graft or Sinus Lift procedure to prepare your jaw for the implant. As such, early dental implant treatment can help prevent the need for these additional procedures and improve the chances of successful implant surgery.

3) Improve Your Self-Esteem and Appearance

Third, but certainly not least, dental implants can help restore the natural look and function of your teeth, allowing you to smile and speak confidently. We understand how missing teeth can impair your self-esteem and make you feel less comfortable smiling in photos or around people. Dental implants can fill the gaps in your smile and improve the effects of facial collapse, enhancing your appearance and boosting your confidence.

4) Avoid Additional Tooth Loss

Getting dental implants early can help prevent additional tooth loss. When a patient loses a tooth, it can be challenging to clean the surrounding area properly, leading to an increased risk of tooth decay and gum disease. We’re sure you don’t want to lose additional teeth, which would make it even more challenging to eat and speak properly. Getting dental implants soon after losing a tooth can help prevent these problems by providing a stable, supportive structure for the surrounding teeth. Implants can also make cleaning the area and maintaining good oral hygiene more manageable.

Will Dental Implants Work for You?

Dental implants are a good treatment option for adults (18+) suffering from gaps in their smiles. However, there are a few occasions when implants may not suit you. For instance, if you have a history of recurrent Periodontal Disease (Gum Disease) or smoke. Smoking can increase the risk of implant failure because tobacco and nicotine constrict blood vessels, reducing the blood flow required for healing.

If you are interested in dental implants but are concerned about your suitability for the procedure, it is best to consult a dentist. We can evaluate your oral health and assess whether this treatment is best for you. We can also advise other treatment options that may be available.

Dental Implant Process:

Dental implants replace missing teeth using two integral parts: a titanium screw and a high-grade ceramic or porcelain crown. The titanium screw mimics a tooth root, and the crown looks and functions like a natural tooth. At Corner House Dental, we offer three types of implant services: Single, Multiple, and All-On-Four.

The process of getting dental implants begins with an initial consultation. During this time, we will examine your mouth, take bone density and CBCT scans, and answer any burning questions you may have. We will then develop a personalised treatment plan for your implants and book your surgery and follow-up appointments.

Placement surgery involves gently making a small incision in the gum and securing the titanium screw into the jawbone. Afterwards, you will need to wait 3-6 months for the bone to heal before we can attach the abutment. The abutment is a small connector that links the screw to the crown. At your final visit, we will attach the crown to fill the gaps in your smile.

Throughout treatment, we’re committed to making your experience as comfortable as possible by providing the highest-quality care.

Dental Implant Services at Corner House Dental, Norwich:

Single Implants: Single Implants are a popular choice for patients who want to replace a single tooth without affecting the surrounding teeth. If you have multiple missing teeth, we can secure multiple single implants into your mouth to enhance your smile. We also offer a variety of crown shapes and colours to ensure your implants blend in seamlessly with your natural smile.

All-On-Four Implants: All-On-Four Implants are an innovative procedure that can permanently replace an entire arch of teeth. This treatment involves securing 4 to 6 implants into the jawbone in one visit and attaching a fixed dental bridge.

All-On-Four implants are often called “Teeth-In-A-Day” because patients can leave our practice with a brand-new smile after just one visit. We can do this by “immediately loading” your mouth with temporary crowns while your gum heals. Once the 3-6 month healing period has ended, we will replace the temporary crowns with permanent ones. This is a convenient and effective treatment option for patients who want to restore their smile quickly and with minimal discomfort. If you are interested in All-On-Four implants, we can discuss the benefits of this treatment during your initial consultation.
