Treating a discoloured smile can make a huge difference to your future dental habits, emotional wellbeing and relationships with friends, family and colleagues. Here at Corner House we offer 3 different ways you can choose from when it comes to treating discolouration, so no matter what degree of staining you need treating, there is a solution for you.
Micro Abrasion
This is for patients looking for a quick and easy way to improve the shade of their teeth and is therefore, perfect if you have a special occasion coming up around the corner such as a wedding or a birthday party. Dubbed as the ‘facial for teeth’ micro abrasion can tackle surface stains, white flecks and more minor cases of discolouration and there are no invasive elements such as injections involved. An abrasive paste is applied to your teeth, polishing them and removing any surface stains, to give a healthy-looking and brighter smile.
Teeth Whitening
One of the most common cosmetic dental procedure worldwide, teeth whitening is a custom treatment that can restore confidence and a healthy-looking smile in very little time. Here at Corner House, we’ve invested in digital impressions for our patients, so you no longer have to tolerate the hassle of alginate and gag-inducing impression material when we go to obtain moulds of your teeth; it is a simple scan of your teeth which means less time the dentist’s chair and a more comfortable experience overall. From these moulds, custom whitening trays are created and a whitening agent is applied here in the practice and then by you at home over a period of weeks. You and your dentist will discuss the shade you are looking for and here at Corner House we will take your facial aesthetic into account (eye, skin, hair colour and current tooth shade) in order to give the most aesthetic result possible.
Veneers
Although veneers are more costly than the previous two discolouration treatments on our list, they are the most long-term and a worthwhile investment for patients who are looking for white teeth for life. Veneers are made from porcelain and are therefore more stain-resistant than a real tooth, though this is not a reason to neglect them, as cavities and gum disease can still strike even though your veneers may look unaltered. With very little preparation involved, veneers are created in the image of your smile and shaped to match adjacent teeth, fitting over the top of the discoloured tooth in question.
